AN OPEN STATEMENT ABOUT THE JULY 3 ELECTIONS IN THAILAND

dear friends

next sunday you have a significant impact on the future of your country. if you feel responsible then please go and vote. don't sleep all day, you can do this another day. please go and vote. since you may not be 100% aware of the consequences your vote or no vote policy will have i may help in getting clearer.

what should you vote?

if you want this country to be ruled by an internationally sought after criminal and terrorist and his family, his clones, his soldiers, the staff on his payroll, his admirers and worst; the ones who want to be like him - then you have to vote for "list 1". this also if you think the richest criminal in thai history, who has stolen billions from his own electors (and from you personally) by avoiding to pay taxes for his deals, which means billions which did not go to the thai government but into his own pocket, if you think he should become even richer and more powerful, then again, vote "list 1".

if you want the country to be ruled by the red shirts then you have several options: you can either vote for list 1 directly or any of the small parties or you can even follow the yellow shirt's "no vote" recommendation. whatever you do which goes into this direction, the outcome is always the same, YOU DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY VOTE FOR THE RED SHIRTS, as every single vote which is not intended to stop the red shirts from winning is a clear FOR RED SHIRTS vote. they are for the time being far ahead all other parties, and the only ones who still have a slight chance to stop them are the democrats. this means, it is of course understandable that you want to vote for your nice uncle or any other relative, and yes, he may be a good one, but this is not the right time to do favors or extend your family power - this is an emergency situation where you have to stop the red terrorists from getting into power, and below is how to do this.

should you really care for your country then actually there is no option at all, as the only intelligent thing you can do is to vote for the only party which is able to win if the 10 million voters which are not sure yet how to vote will vote for them. whether you like the democrats or not, they are at the moment the only real alternative to the red shirts. so vote for them now, vote for "list 10". you can vote for your relatives next time.

imagine osama bin laden would still be alive and would run for president in the USA. since he is a sought after terrorist (just like thaksin) he can of course not be elected, so he will decide to have, let's say, his younger sister run for presidency. since she is an american citizen she is of course entitled to and there are of course many many very powerful and rich supporters and yes, it would be the first time to have a female president in the USA, so why not. she will promise wealth for all, credit cards for school kids, latinos and black people and farmers, and will make sure she controls all these credit card institues, which is however in the end meaningless, as this policy will speed up the total crash of the USD and ruin the country totally.

well, what sense does it make to compare these two scenario? they have nothing to do with each other. right? right in a sense that in every other civilized country in the world the terrorist and his puppet would not have a chance of being elected, while in thailand we have more than 50% who are actually in favor of such a solution, for only one reason: because they also want to have credit, to be as rich as him one day, and successful. where the money comes from does not matter. if you want to be rich it helps not to worry about moral. well. it is your decision.

the only reason why i am writing this note is to remind you of the huge importance of your vote next sunday, to remind you that you have, as mentioned, only the choice to vote for the reds and all the other parties including no vote, which is always the same: a clear vote for the reds. or, to vote for "list 10" - the future of thailand.

you may say "what does this guy care, he is only a farang?". yes. right. and as such a foreigner i am a guest in this still wonderful country and would love to stay here. should this country be ruled by the same bunch of corrupt, power hungry, potentially extremely violent guys wearing red shirts who only one year ago burned parts of bangkok down and damaged the country in a way nobody else before did, then of course i would have to bring my thai family out of this country. regretfully.

sometimes miracles happen. if you help it will become easier.

PART TWO:

i just have to answer to a comment to my previous post above about the july 3 elections:

this may well be the last time to be able to publicly write some critical notes about the thaksin family from within thailand, as they are known to "shut the critics down" when they are in power, and probably from next week on they will be again.

however, i have had some reactions to my previous post where i compared thaksin to bin laden, even though not directly - but some people criticized the fact that it looked like. well, if so, then i of course have to apologize to mister bin laden, as he has never done any damage to his own people or his own country, he attacked only his opponents - unlike mr. thaksin who has actually sacrificed his own country and its citizens for his pure and only sole personal interests - to accumulate more wealth and power for himself and his family - which he was and still is extremely successful in. my apologies to mr. bin laden for putting him on the same level and my apologies to mr. thaksin for not acknowledging his superior class - of course he is the master, while bin laden, compared to him, looks like a school boy.

even though bin laden has been one of the most sought after terrorists of all times, and even though he did of course lots of terrible things, he did it out of his philosophy believing he HAS to do this to balance the world. we know of course this was wrong and sick but from his point of view he was actually an ethical person - even though his ethic was about a million miles away from mine.

very different from thaksin, who from the very beginning did not hesitate to sacrifice his own people and his own country and this without any philosophy or ethic being involved - just greed - very simple. many of his own people have died on the streets of bangkok or correctly been imprisoned for their deeds while supporting him, and he is actually the only one who was never in danger, as he was leading all the dangerous operations, like last years bangkok activities, from a safe distance from abroad.

of course thaksin has my greatest respect for his professionalism. the only problem is that in his case a brilliant brain is totally isolated from the heart, from any ethics and any feelings for other beings outside of his family. so my respect for his excellent judgement of all kind of groups he could and still can use for his purpose. he is using an actually very simple but extremely efficient trick; when stealing his billions from mainly the poor people in thailand by not paying taxes for his businesses, he introduced a fantastic way of making it seem a good deed. every time when steeling 1'000 baht in a way which was very difficult to understand for the simple people, he gave them back around 10% - in cash. if you receive 100 baht and are not aware of the fact that the same person has stolen 1'000 baht from you just before you will of course like it and applaud. but even smarter, instead of only abusing his mainly uneducated followers from the north east, he always made sure not only his family but also his rich and influential friends received a share. a real master piece. you steal and cheat and everybody wants you to continue because they receive their share. wow. this was even more difficult to see as, again a master piece, he did this in many cases even totally legal - by simply changing the law when necessary. only the very intelligent understood that in a long term you will be walking on very thin ice.

and all his good deeds? i have actually not seen many and i have observed very closely since he came into power: the 30 baht scheme, prepared from people in power before him and never introduced because it can not work - he introduced it knowing the state can never afford it and knowing it would finally lead to a collapse of the public health system. but unfortunately his simple supporters think there is infinite money in bangkok, exactly the same way most "mia farangs" think their husbands ATM can never be empty, because everybody from abroad is infinitely rich and when an ATM is empty somebody will just fill it again. life can be that simple. and all the loans introduced by thaksin? of course nobody was thinking about ever having to pay them back, and when not possible there is always a company in thaksin's family ownership taking care of this, for a small percentage. that's really not very ethical. just like now: again same trick, credit cards for everybody, and if you can not pay back he will help you out - for only 1 percent - per month, of course, but nobody is thinking more than one month ahead here. we already have more than 5 million black listed bank accounts in thailand, owned by people who can not pay back. to add any more of the same kind is simply criminal. ooops, he did it again, even though using the face of his sister for this time.

well. to say it short and clear, i wish the thaksin family all the best, hopefully they are able to enjoy this best as far away from thailand as possible, because i have simply never ever seen any individual causing such an incredible damage to his own people and country as thaksin is causing it since he came into power and continues to do so as long as he has some money left. and i actually do not only talk about the economical damage which is HUGE and can not be counted anymore, but the MAIN damage is that he succeeded in dividing a country - which used to be united behind the king - into two parts which i think can never grow together again. i can not say it is his fault that many families in isaan replaced the king's portrait beside buddha's by thaksin's - this i guess just went out of control the same way as red shirt demonstrators in bangkok last year started to tear down the statues and super sized images of the king and his family. well, who is responsible? i would say with goethe "die geister die ich rief ich werd sie nicht mehr los" - this is something a bright brain like thaksin's should have considered when going a bit too far: if you lead bare of any ethics don't be surprised your good students will try to surpass the master.

i wish all of us many voters using brain and heart next sunday. they say every country gets the president it deserves. well, good luck then.

THE NEXT BIG REAL ESTATE THING IN THE AREA OF KHANOM: BEACH FRONT PLOTS IN SICHON

yes, it's true. khanom still has amazing beach front property plots to offer at prices which put the whole andaman coast ashame. but prices are rising fast; in the meantime a common price for 1 rai of beach front land at khanom bay is around 5 to 6 million baht, unlike two years ago, when prices were about half what they are now.

there is a way around though; you like the area but your budget allows only 2 million for 1 rai of beach front land? no problem. just south of khanom bay sichon is offering exactly what you are looking for. the sichon bay is equally beautiful as the khanom bay and prices are around 2 million baht for excellent beach front property. the sandy part of the long white sandy beach is less wide than in khanom but still amazing.

PROS:
amazing price value relation in an upcoming area. since khanom bay is now more attractive for business it will become crowded pretty soon, while sichon bay will remain quiet for many years. if you like it quiet, this is your place to be.
even though khanom is the capital of the province sichon's infrastructure is actually more advanced, offering everything one needs including the best hospital in the area. it is also closer to nakhon si thammarat town as well as to nakhon airport.

CONS:
while buddhism is the dominant religion in kahom, there is a major muslim population in the whole khanom bay; the sound of the mosks may keep some potential foreign buyers away. we will help you to find a quiet spot.
with companies like chevron buying land intensively due to their tha sala gasoline project (some 20 kilometers south of sichon) it is likely that oil tankers will be more common in the area.

BOTTOM LINE:
the last beautiful bay in the gulf of bangkok with very affordable beach front plots.

our property of the month july is the 6.8 rai property in khao klom (krabi province). since some customers have liked the plot but would prefer to buy only a part of it, the owner now offers either the whole plot or the option to purchase only small plots: there will be three "one-rai-plots" and two "1.8 rai plots".
